Jan 21, 2026The plumber from Superior plumbing tried to sell us an expensive toilet replacement when all that was needed to fix the slow flush refill issue was a fill valve replacement. We got an inspection and issue was fixed by another plumber with just a fill valve replacement to fix the slow flush refill. Superior plumbing charged me a visit fee of ~$168.37 to take a look at the issue and said it would be applied to service cost if we went forward with them which is something not all plumbers so, but I still asked them to visit and take a look as they had positive reviews. But when the plumber came and visited and tried to upsell a toilet replacement and said they’ll have to go back for parts and quotes a very high fee, we decided not to go forward with them as we felt an unnecessary expensive service of toilet replacement was pushed when the fill valve replacement could have fixed the issue which indeed ended up being the case when the other plumber took a look later and fixed the issue. The positive was that they called in advance and came promptly during their scheduled visit time and call/scheduling coordinator was helpful but the unnecessary upsell from the plumber was a negative. The management followed up later to collect feedback and offered a visit fee refund (that I paid right after the visit), for my negative experience later which I did not receive for a few days since the promise. Update Feb 10 (4-5 days after service request): They called me today and said, refund was in process (earlier they said 10, now they said 15 business days to process) but said if you are going to add a review then they will not issue a refund. Unethical from a business point of view to coerce or quid-pro-quo remove a review by withholding service fee. They tried to upsell a full toilet replacement when all that was needed was a full valve replacement and then try to push me to remove the review by threatening to withold a refund they initiated. I declined the refund, if it was on the pre-condition of removing my review. Update Feb 27: Regardless of the Feb 10 conversation, they did finally issue the full refund today, without further communication and coercement. I take it that they finally understood the shortcomings of the service and support and took steps to address it, which is a positive sign. I see shortcomings overall in communication and with unnecessary upsells, but I appreciate the fact that the management made efforts to collect feedback, contact me to understand the issue, and ultimately issued a full refund when the service was not up to the mark.

Tyler arrived within an hour and immediately assessed the damage. He repaired the pipe efficiently and carefully checked nearby connections to prevent further issues.
